Launched in 2006 by Doc Net Films in partnership with the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council, the “Documentary in Bookshops” programme has as its aim the publishing and distribution of creative documentaries in the independent network of bookshops in the Rhône-Alpes region. The idea is simple: bring closer two worlds, those of books and of creative documentary, promote a culture of documentary among new publics, encourage a complementary economic activity for bookshops and the region’s independent producers. Following an encouraging first year, the objective of this professional meeting is to draw up an assessment through the contributions of different actors of the programme, and to consider the conditions of its extension to other regions.
